The blaze happened in Putnam County on Tuesday, Nov. 5 just after midnight, when flames went up on a home's porch in the Lake Secor area of Mahopac, according to the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department.
Arriving fire crews soon realized three people were still inside the residence and quickly went inside to remove them. They were then taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for evaluation and treatment.
Hours after the blaze first started, at around 6 a.m., fire crews returned to the home for a rekindling. They then found flames coming through the roof, the department said.
Eventually, this second fire was successfully put out.
